Washington County, Pennsylvania, was created from Westmoreland and Fayette Counties in 1781. Originally it was a part of Virginia. Washington County split into Allegheny, Greene and Beaver Counties.

Between Christian Fox, widow of Absalom Fox, deceased, David Fox and Sarah, his wife, Charles Fox and Mary, his wife, Bonham Fox and Temperance, his wife, Sampson Sargant and Ivy, his wife, David Sutton and Anchor, his wife, Mary Fox and Rebekah Fox, all of the county of Washington of the one part and Jonathan Fox of the same place of the other part...Said Christian Fox, widow et al quit claim to land on Ten Mile Creek, beginning at an elm tree, thence by land of David Sutton...thence by land of Philip Lewellyn (Luallen), .....thence by and of Charles Fox, 98 ¾ acres, being part of tract called Fox Hill, which was surveyed in pursuance of warrant granted Absalom Fox dated 26 January, 1788.

On Ten Mile Creek.....by land of Philip Friend, by land of James Graham, by land of Henry Shidler, Henry Hask, Tobias Friend, by land of David Fox, 228 acres and 71 perches and allowance of 6% for roads, which land was surveyed in pursuance of warrant granted Absalom Fox November 17, 1787. Patent issued from land office of Pennsylvania dated January 17, 1792. Enrolled in patent book No. 18, page 329.
